Why Work With
Competitive Minds
Today’s athletes are being asked to perform at high levels while navigating increasing pressure, expectations, and complexity—often without the systems or support needed to do so consistently.
-
Performance expectations are higher, pressure is constant, and athletes are balancing more than ever; academically, socially, and personally. What it takes to succeed today goes beyond physical ability.
-
Coaches are expected to lead, develop, and support athletes beyond performance. Parents are navigating how to best support their athlete. Organizations are working to create consistency across teams and programs; often without clear systems in place.
-
Confidence, composure, and consistency under pressure are what separate potential from performance. These are not traits athletes simply have; they are skills that must be developed intentionally.
-
How athletes are coached, supported, and developed every day directly impacts how they perform, grow, and respond to pressure. The environment is not separate from performance; it shapes it.
-
Competitive Minds was created to address a gap in youth sport; the disconnect between an athlete’s ability and their ability to consistently perform, often driven by mental, emotional, and environmental factors.
Today’s athletes are navigating increasing pressure, expectations, and complexity, while coaches and organizations are being asked to support both performance and well-being, often without the tools or systems to do so effectively.
Our work focuses on both sides of performance: developing the mental skills athletes need to perform under pressure and strengthening the environments that shape them every day.
-
We take a system-level approach to performance.

About the Founder
Amber is a teen therapist whose work is grounded in a deep understanding of the pressures today’s youth face. Her experience spans clinical practice, school systems, youth organizations, and high-level athletics. As a former NCAA athlete and coach, former club director, and current 5A varsity coach, she brings a system-wide perspective on how performance is shaped not only by the athlete, but by the environments around them.
Having grown up in highly competitive sport, Amber experienced the pressure to perform without the tools or support to manage it. That experience drives her work today.
She focuses on strengthening both sides of performance: athletes and the people and systems that influence them. She partners with coaches, leaders, and organizations to integrate mental performance, embed an understanding of adolescent development, and build environments that are both high-performing and psychologically safe.
Through Competitive Minds, Amber combines clinical expertise, real-world sport experience, and system-level strategy to improve consistency, strengthen culture, and create environments where athletes can perform, grow, and thrive.
